Dusk – Privacy Policy

In short: Dusk does not collect any data. There is no Dusk account, no Dusk server, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We never see your entries.

The app

At most once a day, Dusk asks Apple’s App Store whether a newer version is available. Only the app’s identifier is sent, nothing about you or your journal.

Where your journal is stored

On your device (default): your entries and photos are files on your device and never leave it.
iCloud (optional, you choose it in Settings): the files are stored in your own iCloud Drive and synced by Apple to your devices signed in with your Apple Account. Apple’s privacy policy applies. With Advanced Data Protection turned on for your Apple Account, they are end-to-end encrypted and not even Apple can read them.

Summaries

When you ask for a written summary in Review, Apple Intelligence writes it on your device. Nothing is sent to us.

Exports and backups

Backups and exports (ZIP files) are created only when you ask for them and saved where you choose.

Photos and camera

Dusk accesses photos or the camera only when you add a photo to an entry. The photo is copied into your journal.

Keeping and deleting

Your entries stay until you delete them. What you delete in Dusk, Dusk removes from your journal. A journal in iCloud can also be found and deleted in iCloud Drive › Dusk. Backups are your own files and stay until you delete them.

This website

duskjournal.app sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. The pages are delivered by Amazon Web Services (Amazon CloudFront), which processes your IP address and the requested address to deliver them; we keep no access logs.

Datenschutz (Deutsch)

Kurz gesagt: Dusk sammelt keine Daten. Es gibt kein Dusk-Konto, keinen Dusk-Server, keine Analyse, keine Werbung und kein Tracking. Wir sehen deine Einträge nie.

Höchstens einmal am Tag fragt Dusk beim App Store von Apple nach, ob es eine neue Version gibt. Dabei wird nur die Kennung der App gesendet, nichts über dich oder dein Tagebuch.

Deine Einträge liegen entweder nur auf deinem Gerät oder, wenn du es in den Einstellungen wählst, in deiner eigenen iCloud. Mit „Erweitertem Datenschutz“ in deinem Apple Account sind sie dort Ende-zu-Ende verschlüsselt. Zusammenfassungen schreibt Apple Intelligence auf deinem Gerät. Fotos und Kamera nutzt Dusk nur, wenn du ein Foto hinzufügst. Deine Einträge bleiben, bis du sie löschst; ein Tagebuch in iCloud findest und löschst du auch unter iCloud Drive › Dusk. Sicherungen sind deine eigenen Dateien.
